  7. I have pleasure in enclosing a copy of version
  8. 1.12 of PickAPic.

  10. See the WhatsNew file for a description of the
  11. main changes since the last generally released
  12. version (1.10). Amongst the changes is the
  13. introduction of ArtWorks rendering; please note,
  14. however, that the inclusion of the AW rendering
  15. modules has meant a considerable increase in the
  16. amount of disc space which the program takes up
  17. and in the amount of memory needed to load the
  18. program. If you already have the AW modules
  19. elsewhere on your disc(s) or if you want to
  20. disable ArtWorks rendering, see the notes in the
  21. !Run file.

  29. This incorporates the Acorn DrawFile module which
  30. I have just received. (Thank you Dave McCartney of
  31. DataFile for sending it to me.) The module speeds
  32. up the rendering of DrawFiles very considerably
  33. ... by between 2 and 4 times on the files and
  34. directories I have tried.

  36. The module does not work with RISC OS 2, so
  37. PickAPic still uses the Basic drawfile rendering
  38. procedures if the operating system version is
  39. earlier than 3.10. Also, for technical reasons, it
  40. uses the old code if you render to a sprite in a
  41. 256 colour mode while the current screen mode has
  42. fewer colours.

  44. Please note that this version has had very limited
  45. testing. I would not normally release a new
  46. version with so little testing, but I feel that
  47. the potential advantages of the greater speed
  48. justify the risk. Please let me know if you have
  49. any problems with this version. Positive reports
  50. that it does work would also be helpful!
