- PickAPic version 1.12
-
-
- I have pleasure in enclosing a copy of version
- 1.12 of PickAPic.
-
- See the WhatsNew file for a description of the
- main changes since the last generally released
- version (1.10). Amongst the changes is the
- introduction of ArtWorks rendering; please note,
- however, that the inclusion of the AW rendering
- modules has meant a considerable increase in the
- amount of disc space which the program takes up
- and in the amount of memory needed to load the
- program. If you already have the AW modules
- elsewhere on your disc(s) or if you want to
- disable ArtWorks rendering, see the notes in the
- !Run file.
-
- Instructions are in the !Help file inside the
- application directory.
-
-
- Version 1.13
-
- This incorporates the Acorn DrawFile module which
- I have just received. (Thank you Dave McCartney of
- DataFile for sending it to me.) The module speeds
- up the rendering of DrawFiles very considerably
- ... by between 2 and 4 times on the files and
- directories I have tried.
-
- The module does not work with RISC OS 2, so
- PickAPic still uses the Basic drawfile rendering
- procedures if the operating system version is
- earlier than 3.10. Also, for technical reasons, it
- uses the old code if you render to a sprite in a
- 256 colour mode while the current screen mode has
- fewer colours.
-
- Please note that this version has had very limited
- testing. I would not normally release a new
- version with so little testing, but I feel that
- the potential advantages of the greater speed
- justify the risk. Please let me know if you have
- any problems with this version. Positive reports
- that it does work would also be helpful!
